Help & Support

Questions, ideas or something not working? Write to support@jumpingahead.com. A person reads every message. Please don't send us your task list: we don't need it to help you, and we'd rather never have it.

Getting started

How does Valuist work?
Each evening (or each morning), pick up to six things that matter most for the day and put them in order. Then do them in that order: the first until it's done, then the next. Anything you don't finish waits in the drawer, so nothing gets lost. That's the Ivy Lee method.

Can I have more or fewer than six?
Yes. Change it in Settings → Planning → Tasks per day.

How do I add a task for a later day?
Type the day as you write it ("on Thursday") in Plan my day, or choose a day under When when you edit a task.

What is the drawer?
Tasks you didn't get to, or moved out of today, wait in the drawer. You can bring them back today, snooze them for a week, or keep them in the background for later.

Plan my day

Which phones can suggest an order for me?
On iPhone, Plan my day uses Apple Intelligence: an iPhone that supports it, iOS 26 or later, and Apple Intelligence turned on in the Settings app. On Android, it uses Gemini Nano on phones that support it; the first time, the phone may need a while to download the model. On other phones, and in languages the phone's model doesn't support yet, Valuist still works: your list keeps the order you wrote it in, and you drag to reorder.

Does my list go to the cloud when I use Plan my day?
No. The suggestions are made by the model built into your phone. What you write is processed on the phone and never sent to us. See the Privacy Policy.

Can I talk instead of typing?
Yes. Tap the microphone on your keyboard. Dictation is provided by your phone's keyboard.

Your data

Where are my tasks stored?
On your phone. If your phone is set up for it, they are also backed up to your own iCloud account (iPhone) or your own Google account (Android). We never receive them.

I have a new phone. How do I move my tasks? - iPhone: sign in to the same iCloud account, install Valuist, and choose Restore when it offers your backup (or Settings → Your data → Backup → Restore from iCloud). - Android: restore your phone from your Google account backup when you set it up. - Any phone: use Settings → Your data → Export a copy on the old phone, move the file, and use Import a copy on the new one. You'll need the passphrase you chose.

I forgot my export passphrase.
We're sorry: the file is encrypted with your passphrase, and nobody, including us, can open it without it. Make a new export from a phone that still has your data.

How do I delete everything?
Settings → Your data → Delete all data deletes everything on your phone and your iCloud backup. On Android, your Google account backup is replaced by the empty data at the next backup. Uninstalling the app also removes everything on the phone.

Reminders and quiet days

I'm not getting reminders.
Check that notifications are on for Valuist in your phone's Settings, and that a reminder is chosen in Settings → Planning → Planning reminder. Focus modes and battery savers can hold notifications back.

What are days of rest?
In Settings → Days of rest, choose the calendars you keep (Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, or your own days off). On those days Valuist doesn't remind you or count anything as skipped. Some dates depend on local practice; you can move them by a day where that applies.

Languages

Valuist speaks English, Hebrew, Arabic, French, German and Italian. It follows your phone's language, or choose one in Settings → Your data → Language.
